In a significant step towards strengthening international trade relations, the Mindshift empowerment and Employment initiative (MEEI) facilitated a visit by a Turkish delegation to the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde. The visit, as reported by The Guardian, aimed to discuss enhancing bilateral relations between Turkey and Oyo State, focusing on various key sectors.
The Turkish delegation, led by Daniel Deji Ayodele the Founder of MEEi Program, Martins Arebun, The President of MEEi Program and Dr Yavuz Selim Silay, CHAIRMAN, MEEI Türkiye and Head Global partnership and strategic relations was warmly received by Hon. Segun Ogunbuyi, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, and later met with Barrister Seun Ashamu, the Commissioner for Energy. During the meetings, Barrister Ashamu elaborated on an ongoing power project in the state, which is a testament to Oyo State’s commitment to advancing its infrastructure and energy sector.
Dr Yavuz Selim Silay highlighted the primary objectives of their visit. “The major goal was to learn more about Oyo State and to explore partnership opportunities in key sectors including agriculture, construction, and industrial zoning,” he stated. The delegation’s focus on these areas underscores the potential for mutually beneficial collaborations that could drive economic growth and development in Oyo State.
The meetings were described as insightful and productive, with both parties expressing optimism about the prospects of future collaborations. “It was a very insightful day and the meeting concluded on a positive note,” the founder of MEEI Daniel Deji Ayodele remarked.
The Governor expressed his gratitude towards the MEEI Program, its founder, Dr. Daniel Deji Ayodele and MEEI leadership, acknowledging their efforts in facilitating this significant interaction.
Concluding their visit, the Turkish delegation extended an invitation to Governor Makinde to attend the upcoming World Business Summit in Istanbul, scheduled for October 16-18, 2024. This summit is anticipated to be a platform for further discussions and the forging of new business alliances, reinforcing the ties between Turkey and Oyo State.
